All Energy Recovery Wheels Were Not Created Equal.

The EXCLU-SIEVE® retrofit system is a modular, all-aluminum, total energy recovery system that has been specifically designed to replace existing inefficient or inoperative “heat wheels.”

Early heat wheel designs were plagued by design problems. Some utilized a mesh media which plugged quickly and reduced system airflow. Others used paper that swelled at high humidities, failed mechanically and lost their desiccant surfaces, as did the early aluminum oxide medias. Many were made from asbestos, which is now known to impose a serious health hazard. All must be replaced.

Fortunately, there are strong economic incentives for the upgrading of such systems. An EXCLU-SIEVE retrofit can provide at least $1 / scfm of outdoor air requirement in annual energy savings even in a moderate climate. For a typical elementary school with 1,000 students, an EXCLU-SIEVE retrofit can achieve $20,000 in operating cost savings while meeting the outdoor air mandates of ASHRAE Standard 62, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality, at all times.

SEMCO's in-house design and installation experience with all other heat wheel systems assures a smooth running, trouble free installation. Our units are designed to provide long and reliable operation. As a statement of our commitment to quality, our wheels are available with an optional extended service contract to cover any unforeseen mechanical deficiencies or performance degradations.

With so much to be gained by an EXCLU-SIEVE retrofit, every existing heat wheel system should be carefully evaluated.
