More than 95% of all buildings in the U.S. are air conditioned with some type of packaged equipment, i.e. rooftop units, because of their size, reliability and cost effectiveness. Unfortunately rooftop units are often unable to accommodate the increased quantities of outdoor air that must now be delivered to the occupied space continuously in order to comply with the ASHRAE Standard 62. Over-sizing this type of equipment to handle the outdoor air loads at peak cooling conditions often results in short cycle times at off-peak conditions causing high space humidity. Due to this humidity, occupants often lower thermostat settings creating the all too familiar "cold and clammy" conditions encountered in many facilities. These conditions dramatically increase energy costs!
A Better Way
The Revolution® is an integrated active desiccant rooftop system, which combines the strengths of an advanced DX cooling cycle with the unique dehumidification capability offered by an active desiccant wheel. By combining these technologies into a novel packaged system, a compact, cost effective and extremely energy efficient system has been created. The Revolution can be applied as a dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) handling 100% outdoor air or as a total conditioning system (TCS), which can replace conventional packaged systems handling both the outdoor air and space total cooling and heating loads. With a variable speed compressor, variable airflow capability, modulating bypass damper and modulated regeneration energy input, the Revolution offers virtually unlimited controllability.
